Joy’s Training Seminars

Hosting a Seminar . . .

Being a Host . . .

Training seminars can be hosted through another event, such as an expo, conference or meeting, or can be hosted as a stand-alone event. Hosting Groups are typically responsible for working with us to help organize and promote the training seminar and also for coordinating with the Hosting Site.

The Hosting Group and/or Hosting Site may determine who and how many participants attend a particular training seminar, and whether it is closed or open. Closed training seminars are only open to the group’s members or event participants. Open training seminars are open to all interested riders.

Any club, organization, business or event interested in being a Hosting Group and/or Hosting Site for one or more of our training seminars is encouraged to Contact Joy for additional information.

Seminar Tuition . . .

Training seminars are usually scheduled for four hours and cost $50.00 per person. A minimum attendance is required. The Hosting Group is typically responsible for collecting the participants’ tuition and for remitting payment directly to Joy Medved. A $200.00 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a date. If a training seminar must be cancelled, the deposit can be transferred to another date.

4-hour Seminar: How to Manage Motorcycling Hazards

Motorcycling hazards come in many forms. Some are obvious and easy to manage, others are difficult to recognize until it is too late.

Based on topics from Joy Medved’s forthcoming book, this humorous and engaging four-hour classroom seminar is packed full of strategies for identifying and avoiding many of the motorcycling hazards Joy has personally encountered (and survived!) throughout her 24-year riding career. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and discuss numerous tips and strategies for many common (and some not-so-common) motorcycling hazards, as well as how to deal with hazards when they can cannot be avoided.

Major topics covered in this 4-hour classroom course include:

Interactive & Entertaining . . .

The Joy of Motorcycling® offers a variety of interactive and entertaining training seminars that use the latest adult-centric methodologies. Participants can expect an engaging experience that includes lecture, group discussion and multi-media materials appropriate for riders of all levels.

Much of the information provided to participants in our training seminars is typically learned slowly over many years of trial-and-error experience – a method of learning that can be both expensive and painful for riders at any level. Our curricula have been specifically designed to provide practical information to riders faster and safer than might otherwise be experienced.

All of our training seminars are designed, developed and taught by founding owner, Joy Medved. Joy incorporates not only her personal riding experience of more than two decades and 400,000 miles, but also the extensive knowledge she has gained researching motorcycle and traffic safety issues.

In addition to her motorcycling experience, Joy capitalizes on her professional background to help provide high quality information and effective adult learning techniques. Professionally, Joy is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt with expertise in relational database engineering, information and data quality management, process improvement, research analysis, training development and instructional design.

Please note:

While we strongly encourage continued riding education, The Joy of Motorcycling® is not a riding school. All our training seminars are classroom-based (no range work is involved), and we do not issue certificates for motorcycle licensing or traffic violator school.
